Circa 1867-1886: The most famous cobalt decoration from Utica, New York's N. A. White and Son pottery firm is that of the paddletail bird on branch, and this is a wonderful example of the dark blue coblat decoration collectors hold dear to their hearts. For a little added punch, this nearly 14" tall two gallon jug features the famous paddletail perched on a leafy flowering branch. Condition is excellent with moderate chipping around the spout and other typical as made firing anomalies but no other chips, cracks, or repairs. This is an attractive piece of stoneware from one of America's most renowned and historic families of potters.
