See cane #252 on page 146 of George H. Meyer’s American Folk Art Canes: Personal Sculpture (Sandringham Press, 1992) for another example of a cane by the same maker. See page 204 of the book for a detailed discussion and probable attribution to “Charles W. Teale (1817-1895), who lived in the New York State Soldiers Home and is buried in the Veterans Administration National Cemetery in Bath, New York.”
