Half Gallon Palatine West Virginia Pear Canner

Circa 1880s: Among the most desirable forms of stoneware manufactured by the Palatine Pottery Company in Palatine WV are the canning jars with figural stencil decoration. This 8.5" tall 1/2 gallon wax sealer has a nice clear stencil with a well-defined pear and beautiful delicate lettering. Condition is superb with no cracks or repairs and only a couple typical minor nicks on the inside rim. Collectors gobble up these tough to find jars when they hit the open market, and this is a fine example.
