Circa 1944: Signed "WB 1-28-44," this WWII era 17 7/8"H x 19 5/8"W six color original paint decorated Chinese checkers gameboard is decorated with waxing and waning crescent moons and representations of full or new moons and features an extremely unusual cool color palette that accentuates the board's lunar theme. The game is constructed of two thin boards nailed into a neat handmade canted frame. Condition is excellent with expected minor paint loss, wear, and wood shrinkage commensurate with age and use. This is a subtle and well crafted eighty plus year old folk art gameboard that must have been fun to pull out and set up on game night with the family.
