Circa 1st Quarter 20th Century: This attractive early 20th century two tone original green and white painted farm basket measuring 14" wide x 9" tall to the rim and 13 1/2" to top of the handle has three supports on the bottom for carrying a heavy load, a tightly wrapped thick double rim, and two rivets on each handle to keep it securely in place. The green and white painted surface is dry and untouched with some typical white spattering. There are no clean breaks or repairs on this wonderful splint gathering basket, but there are expected scattered minor losses commensurate with age and use. This is a utilitarian country basket that was made to weather years of hard use in America's rural countryside, and this incredible survivor has cetainly risen to that challenge.
