Circa 1850-1880: Measuring 13" tall and 7.5" square, these large wooden newel post finials retain their original weathered gray paint decorated surface and are rare survivors from a bygone era. Condition is excellent with expected wear and paint loss commensurarte with age and use. Because these finals have square nail construction, they can be dated to 1880 or earlier. These 19th century architectural elements possess superb sculptural appeal and can be displayed simply as decorative objects or used as they were originally intended.
