Circa Mid 19th Century: Measuring 12.5" tall, this striking two gallon stoneware storage jar features super dark blue freehand grape and vine decoration on the front and back and vine decoration on both handles with one handle sporting a surprising freehand flower. This ovoid jar was most probably made by Philadelphia, Pennsylvania's Henry Remmey and is in excellent condition with only minor chipping around its base and no cracks or repairs. Stoneware with grape decoration is tough to find and, because of its scarcity and downright beauty, is a highly desirable commodity in collecting circles.
