Circa Late 1920s: The large pressed steel American National Giant series trucks are hard to find, especially in all original condition; so this 27.5" long US Army truck is a rare survivor. American national is primarily known for their pedal cars and tricycles, and they briefly manufactured large pressed steel vehicles in the late twenties in an attempt to compete with other prominent toy manufacturers such as Buddy L, Keystone, and Steelcraft. This U.S. Army truck is made to resemble the Packard and is in completely orginal army green with black pinstriped paint decration and includes its original canvas, rubber tires, and hand crank with working clicker mechanism. The paint has a pleasant alligatored surface with the original labels mostly intact, and there is some sun fading to the khaki canvas top along with one very minor dent. However, it is plain to see that this rare pressed steel toy in an amazing state of originality was respectfully and lovingly used.
