Circa 1890s: The Neff Brothers' little known pottery was located in Taylorsville, an unincorporated community in Higghland County in the Southwest Ohio. This hefty five gallon salt glazed storage jar measures 12.5" tall and 12" in diameter including its broad, thick lip that was made expressly for tying off cheesecloth with twine. Cobalt stencil decoration (including capacity, company name, and place of manuacture) adorns the outside of the crock, and the intereior is covered in albany slip. Amazingly, this tough to find Ohio storage jar is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs and remains in essentially as made conditon just as it came out of the kiln 125 years ago.
