Miniature Pantry Box in Period Red Paint

Circa Late 19th Century: Collectors admire miniature pantry boxes, and this 2 3/16"D x 1 5/16"H round pantry box in period red paint will top off a small stack nicely. Condition is excellent with no chips, cracks, losses, or repairs. There are inscriptions on the top and bottom that seem to indicate this box was used to store sage seed in 1898, and the former owners have left a note of provenance in the box for future generations. This pantry box is constructed with hand cut brads, wooden pegs, and opposing finger joints, and boxes with these qualities are often given a South Hingham, Massachusetts, attribution by dealers and collectors alike.
