Lehmann Columbia Dancing Sailor with Original Box

Circa 1920s: Made from 1904-1948, the 7.5" tall Lehmann sailor walking toys came with several different ribbons on the hat, each representing a different naval vessel. This example, advertising the ship Columbia, which was launched from Philadelphia in 1892 and used by the US Navy in both the Spanish-American War and WWI, is in pristine condition with only minor typical wear to the clothing and to the paint around the metal key plate where the dancer was wound and includes its original box (note partial restoration to edges of box). The wind up mechanism works well. This high grade example of the toy made for export to America is marked "made in Germany" on the box's lithographed label.
