Circa 1820s: Manufactured for the American market by the legendary Burslem, England firm Enoch Wood & Sons, this petite 12.75" x 10" dark blue historical Staffordshire transferware platter with the desirable shell border depicts the scarce American view of High Lands Hudson River, a scene consisting of an early sidewheeler in the foreground and several other vessels behind it, the Hudson River snaking through upstate New York's picturesque mountains. This platter is in excellent condition with typical light staining on reverse, minor short untensil marks on front, and no chips, cracks, or repairs.
