Circa 1870: Petite one quart Southwestern Pennsylvania canning jars are extremely popular among collectors, and this 6.75" tall barrel form stoneware stencil decorated wax sealer from Greensboro PA firm James Hamilton & Co. is in excellent condition with only minor typical nicks around the sealer rim and other typical in the making firing anomalies and no other chips, cracks, or repairs. This example has nice contast and dark clearly legible cobalt block lettering, which, along with its small size, adds to its desirability.
