Circa 1860s: Before legendary West Virginia potter A.P. Donaghho established his long running stoneware manufactory in Parkersburg, he owned the pottery in Fredericktown, Pennsylvania. While crocks from Parkersburg are plentiful, examples from Fredericktown are scarce commodities indeed. This 8" tall half gallon stoneware canning jar is signed "A.P. Donaghho Fredericktown PA" and is in excellent condition with a minor flake to the side as photographed, typical light use wear and nicking around the rim, and no cracks or repairs. This is a very nice example for Donaghho's early career in southwest Pennsylvania at an affordable price point.
