Circa Late 19th Century: Measuring approximately 17"H (including modern museum stand) x 28.5"L, this factory made copper pointing hand weathervane retains a handsome early in use historic gilt surface over original gilt. A very similar Index Scroll vane is illustrated on page 124 of the J.W. Fiske 1893 catalog, and we believe this whimsical weathervane was mostly likely manufactured by Fiske or one of New York City's other late 19th century weathervane firms. This is a difficult vane to find in such good condition, and its petite stature makes it a perfect fit in a multitude of settings. Provenance: Jeffrey Tillou
