1924 Nifty Maggie and Jiggs Platform Toy

Circa 1924: This 7" long antique German tin litho windup Maggie and Jiggs platform toy was manufactured by Einfalt for comic character toy giant Nifty. Stars of George McManus's enormously popular comic strip Bringing Up Father, Maggie and Jiggs were always at odds about their newly found wealth and their place in society. Signed and dated on Maggie's dress, this colorful platform toy has survived in near mint original condition and works well. When wound, the toy moves back and forth, depicting this infamous couple ever in the middle of a domestic spat, Maggie with her heavy rolling pin and Jiggs with his beloved cane.
