Early NYC 1 Gallon Ovoid Stoneware Pickles Jar

Circa 1800-1825: Standing 10" tall and decorated on both sides, this outstanding ovoid pickles crock is attributed to the New York City's Crolius family. Impressed with the word pickles and having an interior bathed in Albany slip, this pleasing jar is in spectacular nearly as made condition with a couple miniscule nicks on the rim, typical wear on the bottom, and no other damage. These jars are difficult to find in any condition, and to uncover one this pristine is absolutely extraordinary. This is a fantastic example of early American stoneware. Ex H. Marshall Goodman Collection
