Circa 1921-1928: The cast iron Yellow Cab is Freeport, Illinois, toy giant Arcade Manufacturing Company's most famous creation, and this hefty 9" version is a real beauty. As noted by Outwater, Outwater, and Weart on page 46 of their fine volume Cast Iron Automotive Toys (Schiffer Publishng Limited, 2000), this version of Arcade's No. 1 Toy Cab "is unusual because it never had any Yellow Cab markings stamped on its doors." This is the largest version of the iconic Arcade Yellow Cab, and it remains in incredible pristine condition with well over 90% of its original paint (no chips, cracks, touch-ups, or repairs) its original grill screen, and its original nickel driver. A nicer example of the iconic cast iron taxi will be difficult to fine.
