Wooden Painted Easter Bonnet Racehorse Sign

Circa 1930s: People in the equestrian community have a long traditional of giving their horses colorful and endearing names, and this charming and petite 18"W x 4 3/8"H original paint decorated wooden sign would have been used at the track where Easter Bonnet was racing or at her barn stall. The sign is constructed from a single pine board and features fanciful yellow lettering and a beveled border on a deep blue ground. The combination of color, graphics, and subject matter on this attractive nameplate hearken us back to a nostalgic vision of spring at the racetrack where ladies with long flowing dresses and beautiful bonnets walked side by side with men in dark suits, stovepipe hats perched above their gleaming brows.
