Circa 1870-1890: Pantry boxes in original yellow paint are hard to find, and this 9.75"D x 5"H thick walled New England pantry box in original yellow and black paint decoration has been stashed away in our personal collection for some time now. The box has square nailed construction, and its lid features folksy black abstract ornamentation. This box was made during the great age of gameboards in the final quarter of the 19th century as it was varnished on top of the paint as was typical of the period. This graphic pantry box does have age related cracks eminating from some of the nails and expected wood shrinkage as photographed, but it is structurally sound, displays well, and has a highly desirable color with an unusually decorated top. We love it and think you will, too!
