Circa Late 19th Century: This 15" x 15" chrome red, black, and sienna double sided backgammon and checkers board exhibits square nail construction and an excellent crazed surface that dates the board in the last quarter of the 1800s. The board's color combination is unusual and striking, and both sides are graphically pleasing, though we admit we like the backgammon side better simply because early backgammon games are far less common than checkerboards. The board shows typical expected use wear on the high points, which is the way a quality gameboard should be found. Ex. Christoper and Bernadette Evans Antiques.
