Fine Miniature Sampler Dated 1778

Circa 1778: Dated 18th century silk on linen miniature samplers are scarce commodities, and this fabulous tiny 7"H x 3 5/8"W English or American sampler housed in a modern 8 1/4"H x 4 5/8"W frame contains an alphabet, a series of family monograms, two crowns, two hearts, two diamonds, a flower basket, and the coveted 1778 date, placing its time of creation during the American Revolutionary War. This miniature sampler contains a suprising seven colors of silk thread and is in excellent condition save a few expected minor pulled stitches.
