Paint Decorated Folk Art Work Box

Circa 1890-1920: We love utilitarian folk art, and we have had this graphically pleasing 4 3/8"H x 10 5/8""W x 8 5/8"D original black, red and gold painted work box with mustard interior and decoupaged floral cartouches on the lid's corners in our personal collection for over a decade and are just now offering it for sale on the open market. This box was likely made by a professional sign painter who used it to store paint, brushes, or other small supplies related to his trade. This simple yet charming artist's box has round nail construction, which helps us date it to the late 19th to early 20th centuries, and is in generally excellent condition with honest paint wear, slight warpage to the lid commensurate with age, and hinges that were likely replaced by the person from whom we bought the box. We've enjoyed this neat box for long time and are sure it will make the next owner smile.
