Circa 1870s: It's always a treat to find firkins made in South Hingham, Massachusetts, and this large signed "C. Wilder & Son So. Hingham Mass." firkin in desirable original mustard paint decoration makes one smile. Measuring 14.5" tall with a bottom diameter of 15" and a top diameter of 14", this bottom of the stack country bucket features long finger joints, square nails, copper tacks, wooden pegs, and a hand chamfered bottom, all marks of quality early construction. Condition is excellent with an age split and an old chip on the lid, expected age related wear and minor condition issues, including some old paint accidentally spattered on the bucket from some century old painting project. This is a gorgeous firkin in great as found condition just the way we like our genuine farmohouse antiques.
