Wallpaper Hat Box with Beaver Skin Stovepipe Hat

Circa 1850: This beautiful man's high hat wallpaper box with three color leaf and vine pattern printed wallpaper includes the early 7" tall period beaver skin stovepipe hat found with the box. Measuring 13"L x 12"W x 9.75"H, this figural hat box is lined with dated 1846 newspaper, narrowing its date of manufacture to the mid 19th century. The box is in stable structural condition but does have expected stains, paper loss, bends, and make-do repairs. Still, it is a very attractive rare survivor in fine condition for its great age.
