Circa 1890s: Rager Lloyd and Company was the final firm to occupy the Palatine, West Virginia, pottery site along the Monongahela River between Polk and Ferry Streets and operated from 1889 through 1901. Today, cobalt decorated pots produced by Rager Lloyd and Co. are highly desirable among WV and Mid-Atlantic stoneware collectors, and this attractive 13.5" tall three gallon storage jar is a fine example of their work. The crock features top to bottom freehand and stencil decoration and is in superb nearly as made condition with typical minor staining and no chips, cracks, or repairs.
