Circa 1820s: Here is a piece of early 19th century canaryware for the music lover. This unusal transfer scene shows a pair of gentlemen relaxing in the pastoral countryside with the man on the right staring at the flute in his hand and the man on the left smiling, both of them pleased with the beautiful day and the sound of the flutist's tune. Measuring 2 7/16" tall, this English mug made for the American market is in excellent conditon with two minute nicks on the can's upper rim and two factory glaze skips on the back of the mug. We have never before encountered this view and find it to be a pleasant rendition of two friends enjoying a musical interlude on a sunny summer afternoon.
