The tradition of champion racehorse portraiture wends its way back at least into the 18th century and continues even today. This fine 27 ½” by 21 ¾” oil on canvas portrait of thoroughbred flat racer Master Charlie painted by noted California artist Edward Burn was commissioned in 1925 by prominent Chicago businessman William Daniel, Master Charlie’s owner, and delivered to him at the Exchange Building in the Windy City’s storied Union Stockyards. Fabulous original condition.
