Circa 1937-1943: Thick-walled Inserts! This vintage Fiestaware complete six piece relish tray set in six original fiesta colors is a delight. Most original Fiesta relish tray bases will have five bands of equally spaced hand jiggered rings around its wide rim, though spacing can vary depending on the individual potter's precision and skill.
It seems appropriate that this lovely vintage Fiesta relish tray has an original green base, the first of the famous green Fiesta colors developed at HLCC's pottery in Newell, West Virginia. In an early interview not long after the world's most collected dinnerware was unleashed on the buying public, Homer Laughlin's star designer Frederick Rhead described the original green shade as "cucumber green," an apt analogy for this tray that shows off the original six colors in the burgeoning Fiesta garden.
This set also contains the coveted early thick-walled side inserts, though the red insert is unmarked, probably due to its having been cast in a long-used mold. This fantastic Fiesta relish tray has no chips, cracks, or repairs and, as always, comes satisfaction guaranteed.
