Circa 1938-1943/1959-1963: The Fiesta disk water pitcher (also referred to as a jug in the Homer Laughlin Collectors Club Association book) may well be the most universally recognized form that is so distinctively vintage fiesta pottery. It's hard to believe the world had to wait two and a half years after the initial January 1936 fiestaware debut for the disk pitcher. The popular piece continued to be made in all the vintage colors and is still being made today in the post-86 colors.
Although popular in all eleven vintage fiesta glazes, it is the red which captured many hearts. RIght from the get go the red glaze costs more to produce due to the uranium used in the glaze formula. Red even commanded it's own column on price guides. Reds popularity continues today, as does it's commanding price. When you put the richest, thickest glaze on the worlds most recognizable pottery shape you have a piece that is proving the test of time.
Large, but not overwhelming, the fiesta pitcher holds 71 ounces and stands 7 1/2" tall. This example in the original red is in excellent shape with no chips, a great even glaze, nice and shiny and impressed in the mold with the "HLC fiesta MADE IN U.S.A" mark. This example has no damage and will make a great addition to any collection. Measures 7 1/2" tall x 8 3/4"w x 5"d.
