Circa 1936-1946: The footed comport measures 12 1/2"D x 3 1/2"H and crosses over from dinnerware to art pottery when used on the table to display fruits or flowers. The comport's slip cast foot would have been hand joined and its inside rings hand etched into the clay body on a jiggering machine. This example in the original cobalt glaze is in excellent condition with a wonderful early hand applied foot and extra outside bottom rings without the stamp (marked 14 with the factory quality controller's number) and a great surface that shows very little if any use and no damage, just a great vintage piece in the wonderfully early rich color of cobalt.
