Circa 1950-1959: The Homer Laughlin Cina Comapny of Newell, West Virginia, produced the hugely popular art deco Harlequin dinnerware line to be sold exclusively at Woolworth's, and though Harlequin pieces in original chartreuse glaze were manufactured for 7-9 years, the chartreuse basketweave ashtray proves extremely difficult to find and is considered a true rarity among collectors. This Harlequin chartruese basketweave ashtray is the only one we have owned in our 15 years in the pottery business. It retains an especially fine glaze and is completely devoid of chips, cracks, and repairs.
