Zimmerman’s bulls undeniably hearken Picasso and O’Keefe, but it is highly doubtful that Zimmerman was aware of their work or of the rise of mixed media art forms in the middle of the 20th century. It is more probable that Archie was influenced by Looney Tunes cartoons featuring bulls with bulbous red eyes and smoke pouring from their nostrils and ears. |
