Circa Late 19th Century: Over several decades, Bruce and the late Doranna Wendel assembled an extensive collection of over 300 folk art hand painted gameboards, including this exceptional ten color Parcheesi board on a vibrant white ground. Measuring 27.5" x 27.5" when hung in a diamond shape so as to read the home square horizontally and call attention to its cartouches and golden arrows, this board is framed in black and exhibits a superb original surface with fine crazing and honest paint wear commensurate with age and play use, which is just the way we like to find them. Gameboards from the Wendels' collection were published in The Magazine Antiques and exhibited multiple times over 40 years at The American Folk Art Museum. The Wendels purchased this Parcheesi board at Skinner in 2016 and paid over $7,000 for it after buyer's premium and sales taxes. Their sales receipt will accompany this terrific antique gameboard.
