Circa 1860s: Attributed to Newville, Pennsylvania's Samuel Irvine, this Cumberland County one gallon stoneware pitcher measures 11" in height and combines classic dark cobalt floral decoration with outstanding condition (no chips, cracks, or repairs) and pleasing color and form. This is a fine pitcher by a fairly elusive maker and will make an astute addition to any collection of early American stoneware.
