J.T. Dickman Figural Spade Shooting Gallery Target

Circa 1907-1934: Figural cast iron card suit shooting gallery targets are both rare and desirable, and this John T. Dickman Company spade target in an early working yellow and black painted surface presents a visually appealing example of this scarce target. Los Angeles, California's J.T. Dickman purchased his first shooting gallery in 1905, and, as explained by Richard and Valerie Tucker on page 55 of their volume Step Right Up! Classic American Target and Arcade Forms (Schiffer Publishing, Ltd. 2014), "in 1907, Dickman established John T. Dickman Co., self-touted as supplying the 'World's Best Shooting Galleries, Amusement Devices and Supplies.'" Dickman's venture was extremely successful, and he operated the company until his retirement in 1934. This outstanding target measures 13"H x 11"W not including its custom museum stand and 14.5" tall in the stand. Ex. Craig Dinner
