Circa 1901: Measuring 9" long, this cast iron ax served as a premium for Laurel Stoves and Ranges and promoted Carrie Nation's temperence movement in early 20th century pre-prohibition America. Nation was arrested many times over in the opening decade of the 20th century for her so-called hatchetations, events where she would march into saloons and destroy their liquor and fixtures while singing and praying. This is a neat advertising piece that doubles as a souvenir of one of our nation's most well known Christian feminists.
