Circa 1880s: Meausuring 12.25" tall, this hefty three gallon blue decorated Newark, New Jersey, storage jar with bird on branch decoration features a scarce Belmont Ave. Pottery mark. This bird is more commonly seen on a wide variety of vessels produced by Fulper in the late 19th century, but it is far, far less common to find them with this stamp. This storage jar is in excellent condition with one thumbnail-sized flake on the back of the rim as photographed and light streaking/staining around the jar itself but no other chips, cracks, or repairs. This is a lovely example of 19th century New Jersey stoneware by an uncommon maker.
