Circa Late 19th Century: Pantry boxes were used to store all manner of things, and this 6 3/8"D x 2 7/8"H pantry box in old in use crazed blue over original green paint is inscribed "buttons" twice on the lid so that its owner would know what it held. This box is in excellent condition and was obviously loved by its owner for many years and freshened up with a coat of blue as was common practice on utilitarian objects in rural areas where money was tight and nothing was wasted. This is a beautiful survivor in a great old blue second surface.
