Early Swing Handled Bucket in Original Bittersweet Paint

Circa 1st Half 19th Century: Coated in original bittersweet milk paint, this large 13"D x 11"H (not including handle) early 19th century pine bucket with interlocking finger joints, unusual hand turned button shaped pegs, and masterfully carved handle is simply as good as it gets. The unpainted inside of the bucket shows perfectly aged patina, and the bottom of the bucket, which has remained largely unexposed, shows the original color of the New England white pine. Both bands were originally fastened to the staves with square nails. There is a minor unobtrusive nick here and there, but this fantastic new England bucket has survived in astonishing conditon considering its great age and long use. Ex. Lynette Miller Collection.
