Anita Meaders Folk Art Face Jug

Circa 2000: Anita Meaders (1952-2009) began making pottery in the early 1980s with her husband David Meaders in Lula, Georgia, continiuing a Meaders family tradition begun in 1892. Anita, too, came from a long line of Georgia potters that include her great great grandfather William Asbury Warwick; so throwing pots was deep in her genes. Anita Meaders' work is highly influenced by both Arie and Lanier Meaders, and this petite 8" face jug with its deep green alkaline glaze and expertly shaped and emotionally evocative facial features is obviously done with Lanier's work in mind. The fantastic Georgia face jug is in excellent as made condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs.
