Round Pantry Box in Original Salmon Milk Paint

Wayne, Maine Origin

Circa 1870s: Salmon pantry boxes are hard to find, and this 11 3/8"W x 4 1/2"H example in its original first coat of salmon milk paint is a great find for the collector. This great early American country primitive storage box also has an unusual low profile, nice heavy thick walls, and square nail contruction. Old handwriting on the top of the lid identifies this 19th century salmon pantry box as having belonged to a person in Wayne, Maine, a town on the western edge of Kennebec County.
