Antique American Paint Decorated Leather Fire Bucket

Circa 1835: This dated 1835 fire bucket in original green and mustard paint belonged to William Huntress, who was born September 8, 1766, and died at the ripe old age of 78 on August 13, 1844, in Waterboro, Maine, where he is buried in York County's Town House Cemetery. Named and dated 19th century fire buckets are rare, and this one survives in excellent original condition, its only apology being a glued repair to the original handle. The 13.5" tall leather bucket has not been repainted and exhibits the finely crazed orginal painted surface expected on a 185-year-old object. Ex. Chuck White
