Stephen B. Sweeney 2 Gallon James River Valley Storage Jar

Circa 1840-1860: Measuring 12" in height and decorated on both sides, this two gallon stoneware jar potted by Henrico County, Virginia's Stephen B. Sweeney (1799-1863) is sure to please. Sweeney is one of the James River Valley's most reknowned antebellum potters, and he produced a tremendous amount of stoneware until the Civil War when most of his property in Richmond was destroyed. This is a very nice jar from one of Virginia's most enduring potters.
