Antique American Pantry Box in Original Black & Red Paint
Fun Sewing Make-do
Circa 1850-1880: Measuring 3 5/8" long, 2 3/4" wide, and 1 1/2" tall, this small top of the stack oval bentwood box in original black painted surface and inside cherry red was obviously used as a make-do thread holder because of the small hole in its lid. The surface is superb, and the box has only expected early in use minor losses around the upper rim of the base and bottom of the lid. These small19th century oval finger jointed pantry boxes in first surface are getting harder and harder to find, and this little gem is a real winner.
