Antique Mustard Grain Painted Wooden Firkin

Original Fancy Grain Painted Surface and Nailed Lap Joint Construction

Circa 1880-1900: This nicely constructed wooden firkin sports a fancy andunusual original mustard grain painted first surface and finger joint construction, indicative of a late 19th century manufacture. This is a fairly large example, approximately 12" across the bottom and 11 1/2" across the top and will fit nicely near the bottom of the stack and contrast very well against darker colored sugar buckets -- a great addition to any collection of early American antique painted country primitives.
