18th Century New England Sugar Bucket

Original First Surface Blue Paint

Circa Late 18th Century: It is truly rare to find an 18th century firkin in its first paint, and this superbly constructed early American blue sugar bucket fits the bill. Measuring 10.25" tall and having a bottom diameter of 12.25" and a top diameter of 11.5", this country primitive firkin with interlocking lap joint construction retains its first painted surface and, amazingly, has not been scraped down or overpainted. Weighing in at nearly eight pounds, this hefty survivor has it all: excellent conditon, untouched original blue surface, and top notch form.

Provenance: Ex Stephen-Douglas Antiques
