Early 19th Century House Sampler Signed LS

This charming early American or English sampler is signed LS and was probably done when she was under the age of ten. One clue to the maker's young age lies in the second alphabet where several letters are omitted, the letter N duplicated, and the letters W and X stitched poorly. However, this lovely piece of 19th century folk art contains a well-executed and complex design and color scheme and is extremely pleasing to the eye. At 17" X 10", this wonderfully folky piece of antique needlework will fit just about anywhere and will compliment any collection of fine antiques.
