1781 Adam and Eve Antique Needlework Sampler

Excellent condition with highly decorated colorful motifs

This gorgeous 16 1/2" x 8" English or American sampler is dated 1781. It boasts eight different colors of silk thread which are in an amazingly bright state of preservation and add to this sampler's superb visual impact. This fine example of 18th century needlework contains a very rare completely nude Adam and Eve at the tree of life and an extremely beautiful pair of love birds. This early schoolgirl sampler is documented in Elizabeth Norfolk and Jonty Hearndon's MIller's Antiques Price Guide 2007 and has all the desirable bells and whistles that would make it attract attention even in the most advanced collection.
